It was a cold February day when Jamie and Tyler promised forever on top of a mountain at Airport Mesa in Sedona. They knew Sedona would make the perfect backdrop to this part of their love story-nothing beats those 360 degree views! The mountains, colors and absolute peace you find in nature is unlike anything in the world. They wanted this to be an intimate day with their closest family and friends, knowing that closeness would contribute to the overall magic of the day. Their picture-perfect day only had one adversary-the weather.
We started the day getting ready and capturing details in the hotel with the sound of rain hitting the roof above us. Fortunately, I was totally prepared with several clear umbrellas to cover the bride and groom and their wedding party! But still, I was praying that we wouldn’t have to tote a dozen umbrellas up the side of a mountain while also balancing bouquets and beautiful dresses. Plus, who wants to get married in a soaked dress? We knew our prayers had been answered when right before we left the resort we watched as the clouds receded and the rain stopped for the first time all day! Then the sun came out to welcome us with a smile as we summited Airport Mesa! The Lord’s favor was certainly on these two. The wind was still a factor, but we were able to make it work for us and let the wind fill the veil for some dramatic and beautiful bride and groom portraits! And truly, neither hell nor high water could’ve put a damper on the love, passion and excitement these two share! This wedding was also so special to me, as it was my first time shooting in Sedona. I have now completely fallen in love with this place (and adventure elopements in general) and the absolute magic that awaits every venture!
