As an engagement photographer, I’m always excited when couples choose a location that combines history, charm, and natural beauty. St. James Court is one of my absolute favorites! Nestled in the heart of Old Louisville, this iconic location offers stunning architecture, lush gardens, elegant walkways, and timeless scenery. I recently had the pleasure of photographing Josh and Savannah’s engagement session at St. James Court. And it was nothing short of magical.
One of the standout features of St. James Court is its beautiful central fountain. The peaceful sound of flowing water and the surrounding historic homes create a romantic atmosphere that feels straight out of a storybook. We spent part of the evening exploring the park together. The other part capturing portraits around the fountain, which provided a beautiful focal point and added an elegant, romantic touch to their engagement photos.
As if the location wasn’t already beautiful enough, the hydrangeas were in full bloom. Their soft, abundant blossoms lined the pathways and garden beds, creating dreamy pops of color throughout the session. The hydrangeas added natural elegance to the photographs and perfectly complemented Josh and Savannah’s joyful energy. Spring and early summer are some of my favorite times for engagement sessions in Louisville. Truthfully, St James Court is beautiful all year long. However, the gardens truly flourish and come to life during these seasons specifically.
Another one of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is getting to know my couples before their wedding day. Strolling through St. James Court gave us plenty of opportunities to chat, laugh, and capture authentic moments that reflect their sweet connection. Every part of the evening felt effortless and genuine. From quiet embraces beneath the blooming flowers to playful walks around the fountain.
