If you watch any wedding-themed romantic comedy these days, the week leading up to the wedding is sure to be full of chaos, drama, and all the emotions! Wedding weeks have notoriously been known to carry high levels of stress and anticipation. But they don’t have to! Too often I see brides anxious over last minute details. While certain time-consuming tasks get set aside for weeks, suddenly they need to be dealt with before the big day. And, when you’re consumed with tying up loose ends, you don’t leave much time for relaxing and more fun activities.
If you feel like you could easily get too caught up in the hustle and bustle of wedding week – I have two pieces of advice for you!
Tip #1 – Delegate
Hand off those last-minute to-dos to your bride tribe, family members, or the incredible planner you hired. Get as much as possible done as early as possible. I promise you the sooner it’s checked off, the more at ease you will feel.
Tip # 2 – Plan a wedding week trip or staycation with your love
Planning a trip together before exchanging vows will force you to slow down and soak in the fact that you are about to get married! It will also help ensure some of those to-do list items are finished well before the wedding day.
I’m able to offer these two tips to you today because this is exactly what Sommer and Joe did. This couple came in from Wisconsin for their Arizona destination wedding! Sedona has always been a special place for them as they got engaged surrounded by the iconic red rocks. Sommer and Joe knew Sedona would make the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos, but weren’t able to make another trip to AZ until the week of their wedding. Which turned out to be the best timing!
With the help of friends, family, and their planning team, they checked off all those to-dos and escaped into Arizona’s northern mountains for a couple of days! They got to relax and reflect together on what this week meant and how excited they were to start their lives as husband and wife.
Sommer and Joe love hiking and spending time outdoors, so visiting the Merry-Go-Round for their Sedona engagement session was an easy “yes.”
Keep in mind, getting up there takes some additional planning as it’s only accessible with a four wheel drive vehicle. But it is SO. WORTH. IT. Watching the sun go down in this incredible place is nothing short of magical. It was the perfect way to cap off their pre-wedding getaway! Scroll through to catch a glimpse of the joy these two have found in each other. This joy alone was even more beautiful than our surroundings.
If you are getting married this year or are currently planning your wedding, I encourage you to take a big, deep breath. Make a list of what tasks you can delegate out to others this week! I am here to cheer you on however I can! If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, feel free to reach out to inquire about my availability in 2022-2023.
